On March 1st and 2nd, 3023, the Association for Participatory Democracy ADEPT organized the first training module within the Local Elected Officials School, 2024 edition, an event that brought together over 30 local elected officials from 24 regions of the country. The theme of the first training module was "Organization and Functioning of Local Public Administration: Legislation, Competencies, Transparency", addressing essential subjects for efficient and transparent local administration.

During the solemn opening of the event, Maaike Keizer, Deputy Head of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Republic of Moldova, emphasized the importance of strengthening local democratic institutions and the support provided by the Dutch Embassy in this regard. Participants benefited from presentations and debates on various topics, such as the role and competencies of local public administration, decision-making processes at the local level, etc. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of effective communication between local council members and the mayor in addressing local issues, as well as the need for transparency and accessibility in the decision-making process.

The Local Elected Officials School also provided two intensive leadership skills development sessions, facilitating a process of learning and personal growth for participants.

On the second day of the School, Igor Boțan, Executive Director of ADEPT, presented a study dedicated to the evolution of administrative-territorial organization in the Republic of Moldova, highlighting administrative reforms in recent decades and their impact on the administrative system.

One of the strengths of the Local Elected Officials School was the interactive approach to the topics, which facilitated the exchange of experience among participants and contributed to the development of practical skills in managing local issues.
